Glass type
Glass is an extremely inspiring material, and its production is at least as interesting as the final object. Its interest comes directly from the amorphous form the glass has during the shaping and blowing time. Neither liquid nor solid, it mutates constantly till the piece is put into the oven to gently cool down and become solid.
Printing a decoration (a text or a drawing) on the glass before being blown and shaped, means that it will be deformed and warped with the volume of glass. It gives spectacular results of unexpected and dynamic decorations, which are a kind of crystallization of the sequence of movements and gestures of the glassblower. The decoration is there as a kind of a witness of the amorphous form that glass was before switching to the solid one.
The project has been financially and intellectually supported by Pro Helvetia and Ikea Foundation.
