Castagno18 - the bookshelf
This bookcase was made entirely using dovetail joints carved into the massif chestnut wood, no hardware of any kind, nor glue is used, it is made exclusively of wood. The construction has something special: the shelves are supported in the center by the tie rod suspended from the overlying beam, just as happens in the carpentry of a building. Its length can be varied freely, only by changing the thickness of the upper beam to increase its capacity, the shoulders will always remain only two.
The production chain of the entire Castagno18 collection is very narrow: from cutting wood to creating furniture, everything is done in Ticino within a few kilometers. The chain thus conceived enhances the local wood, and the wealth that derives from it remains for the small working realities of the canton of Ticino, helping them not only economically but also in building a cultural identity specific to the region in which they are located.
